Firoz Ahmad Firoz aka Social Geographic is special to me -- for his honest photos of women and girls and for the cause he represents, a call to act against the everlasting lack of respect toward women the world over in all its guises. It is well that you give us the shocking facts underneath each "Ladli" who looks into your lens.

Sparrows help the ecosystem by improving biodiversity and supporting plant growth, which makes the environment greener. Growing up in Northern India, these birds were always around me, chirping and hopping. When I moved to Delhi, they were still with me. The house sparrow is Delhi’s state bird, but modern changes in architecture and lifestyle have ruined their habitats. They’ve now disappeared, and I miss them, even in Bengaluru. This music video brings back memories of them.

Technology has greatly benefited the elderly, with innovations like telemedicine, wearable health devices, and smart home tech enhancing healthcare, safety, and independence. However, many poor and marginalized seniors cannot afford these advancements, limiting their access to these benefits.

Hope for Change: Addressing the Marginalization of Musahars

The Musahar community primarily inhabits northern India, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal, along with presence in Nepal. The largest concentration, around nine out of ten, resides in Bihar, particularly in its northern regions. Despite governmental initiatives aimed at providing assistance, many Musahars continue to grapple with poverty, facing unequal opportunities compared to their counterparts.

These pictures were taken near Bettiah, in India. I took them to help a charity called Karuna before the pandemic. Karuna is a charity in London that helps people and communities in Asia.
